ETS 125 EQ Issue
« on: May 09, 2010, 08:09 PM »
I can no longer get a peice of sandpaper to adhere to the bottom of the tool. It seems that the black plastic pad with the micro"hooks" is worn out. I keep it clean, but you can no longer get sandpaper to stay on the tool when running at any speed. The tool is only 5 months old but gets almost daily use. Can I order a repalcement pad and install it myself?  I'm thinking it might be a good idea to have a backup pad handy.

Yes, pads are available. You'd probably want the same pad as came with the ETS - item # 492-280.

(Bob beat me to to the punch). Yes, you can order a new pad from any Festool dealer for $29.50 USD. The pads are very easy to change. The part numbers are:

Soft pad, the pad that comes on the sander: 492280

Super soft pad: 492282

yep they wear out with use.  and if you use it daily then a back up might be good... thats the thing in what I do and others, is having to have 2 and 3 of things for back ups, and because it sounded good at the time to have a back up !

just like routers  you need one router for every bit you have plus one more in case you buy a bit on the whim !     [laughing]

and if you are in the middle of sanding and it has worn out then a back up is necessary !
pay attention to the details.... they make the difference... festool does

That's normal with any type of sander from any brand. Replacing the pad after 5-6 months is about average with daily use. You can replace the pad yourself and is very easy, you just have to drive 4 screws.
