Hello!
I just made my first Festool drill purchase two weeks ago. Which, perhaps not very suprising, landed on a CXS ;D
But there is one thing I would just like to check with you guys on this community who might own a CXS already and have the answer to.
The trigger has a slight delay on it. So when I press it quickly it basically doesnt react to it.
So when you pick it up and do the mandatory doublepress, it almost doesnt spin the bit at all. You just hear a slight noise of it activating. I compared it to my previous drill, a couple of years old ryobi, and it's a lot quicker in the response. If you press the trigger quickly the drill almost reaches full speed. Apart from this I really love the drill but it does remove some of the feel when you are drilling screws because you "precision" of the power transfered when it's delayed.
So can someone let me know whether this is normal or if I should contact Festool for a repair? :)

The delay is normal. And it has a slight ramp-up which I haven't noticed in my other non-Festool drills.
I actually prefer it when starting screws since it can give you enough time to back off or slow things down.

It has sophisticated electronics.. dump the pumping trigger technique, press gently and move slowly - and you’ll see [wink]
Festool stopped making on/off triggers many many years ago. So has a few other manufacturers.
They all will have a delay if you pump suddenly.

My Ridgid random orbital sander, which has a switch and not a trigger, has such a long delay that when it was new I would check to see what was wrong.
I thought it was a safety feature, but now I’m wondering if it is the same electronic delay as on the drills.

I wanted one of those CXS drills too but no one in Canada has one so my money is still in my pocket. 🙁
