1400 router currently not being manufactured
« on: January 29, 2022, 11:13 PM »
Hi,

I’ve been looking around for OF 1400 and most places seen to be out of stock. Beaver tools said that Festool is currently not making them so stock will be limited. Does anyone know if this because of the supply chain issues or is there a chance that Festool is going to roll out a new model soon?

Looks by the listing that that’s the version with the t-loc systainer. Look for the version with the current generation systainer.

PMC and Beaver Tools are the only online stores that have it in stock from what I can tell.

This is normal.

Festool produces all tools in batches. I would presume now they are working on getting as many of the new OF 1010's out as much as possible.

Beaver tools should not pass that info to customers in such a way as it can only cause misunderstanding. There are probably very few (if any) Festool production lines dedicated to a single tool such that you can say it "never stops being produced" over a year span etc. That is normal for small-to-mid volume tool companies.

One thing though come sto mind - does the current OF1400 have an NVR switch aka "anti-restart" feature after power is restored?

If not, I would expect Festool re-release an updated model with new electronics soon as it is mandatory in the EU to have NVRs for all handheld routers starting in Jan 1. Old stock can be sold but new tools cannot be produced or imported anymore.

That would not impact US market directly, but may cause a bit of a logistics re-shuffle trickling down even there. All that on top of the current electronics supplies crysis.

Check with your local Woodcraft store, my local store had both the 1010 & 1400 sitting on the shelf but no 2200.

Just noticed that the 1400 is now offered in 2 versions.

Same thing for the 1010 router.

This could be something to keep in mind when a recon listing comes around. I also expect the less expensive version of each router will ship in a cardboard box.  [unsure]

The Rockler website says my local (CA - Orange) has 2 on hand. I don't know if Rockler stores will ship phone orders but if you're in the US, it might be worth a try.

There was a 1400 on Recon back in early January priced at $468.75 (SKU 574692) but the listing was only active for about 90 seconds. Since September, there have been 5 1400s listed on Recon.

Yep they do same in Europe for the oft-used shop tools. Expect this to get more prevalent given the wider SYS3 situation. The new Bott heights force bigger boxes which, in turn, even casual customers do not like/appreciate as much.
